Mood: waiting for wind
25th October 2009

Wind Direction: WSW
Wind Stength: 20mph + a bit
Surf / Sea State: Variable ;-) small to half mas
Air Temperature: fine
Sea Temperature: fine
Weather: Sunny and windy !!
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Got to Camber and was heading to Jury's Gap for low tide action, guessing it'd be rammed with tea-baggers. Never made it that far as spotted the posse's wagen's at Las Dunas.
Had got a text from Rich saying 'Camber 5.3m' so didn't even walk over for a looksee, just rigged my two newest toys (5.3m Ego & Freewave 95) up, suited up and hiked over the dune.
Proper hike as had car park to hike over, then the dunes, and then the sea was halfway to France. Got to be at least a mile lugging kit, so definately wanted to be the right choice !!
Downwind, tea bags everywhere. Definately the right choice to sail from Las Dunas.
Rich & Camber Mafia were already out, Patrick was about 5 minutes before me over the dune. Had a decent 45 mins or so before wind came up a bit, and I spotted Rich leading the charge back over the dunes to change down to 4.7m and his Quatro 76 Twin. Patrick followed him over the dune, but I wasn't convinced. Nor was Mr Mafia. We stuck it out (it is a long walk there and back only to find the wind drops again !!) and went back out and had a decent time of it while the others were hiking, rigging, and more hiking.
Lucky for them the wind came back a bit and they were ok, but lucky for us it didn't go nuts and we were nicely (well) powered up in the main.
Ramps were sweet for big jumps (and some not so stylish landings), and it was 15 bottom turn heaven if you picked the right wave to shred :-)
Wind eased back a bit, coinciding with realisation of cream crackeredness .... so went out for some more ;-)
Couple of runs were enough and that hike beckoned ....
All in all a fun session, not too mental, some decent backside rides, and some big assed jumps .... in the sunshine, and miles from all the tea baggers.
Weren't many of us out, certainly by recent standards, with probably 10 all told, but 2 did manage to sail into each other, and the Goya Twin took the brunt of the damage. Can't believe that two people managed to sail into each other with all the space we had, but it just goes to show I suppose .... still have to look where you are going, and if in doubt, SHOUT so you dont both turn the same way ;-)
